The Arizona National Livestock Show is the largest Livestock Show in the Southwest, an annual Phoenix tradition since 1948. We take pride in our reputation as a prestigious Show with an atmosphere of warm hospitality. Membership in the Arizona National provides the financial foundation of our success.

Premium awards paid to Junior and Open exhibitors at last year's Livestock Show totaled over $70,000. Exhibitors traveled from 18 states across the country, bringing nearly 2,000 head of the nation's best cattle, horses, sheep, goats, and swine to enter the competition. We sell 135 of the highest placing market animals at our Junior Market Auction on January 1st each year. The Auction motivates Junior Exhibitors to excel in their livestock projects and offers them an opportunity to reap a financial reward for their efforts. A portion of the Sale proceeds benefit the Arizona National Scholarship Program for college level students, one of the means by which we fulfill our mission to provide support for upcoming generations of agricultural entrepreneurs.

Cowboys fromacross Arizona as well as out of statesaddle up to compete in the competitive ranch events during the Arizona National Livestock Show. The Arizona Ranch Events include a Ranch Rodeo, a Arizona Working Ranch Horse Competition and a Arizona Commercial Replacement Heifer Show and Sale. Entries in all these Ranch Events are limited and by invitation only.

During the Ranch Rodeo, ranchers compete in events that test the skills they use every day on the ranch such as Wild Cow Milking, Calf Branding, Stray Gathering, Trailer Loading, and Saddle Bronc Riding. The Ranch Horse Competition demonstrates the skills of both the rider and handler as they demonstrate maneuvers that are commonly required in everyday ranch work. The Replacement Heifer Show and Sale provide an opportunity for Commercial Arizona Cattle Ranches to display and sell their quality heifers.

The Cowboy Classics Western Art and Gear Show Exhibit is held in conjunction with the Livestock Show. It is a showcase of the rich and unique life of the American cowboy presented through many forms of art, including painting, bronze sculptures, leather and silver work and a variety of other mediums. A display of Ranchers history and memorabilia is also on exhibit in the Cowboy Classics Gallery. Arizona ranching families and other organizations with roots in ranching and agriculture provide the displays, which attract the attention of both urban and rural spectators. Cowboy poetry and music can be enjoyed at various events throughout the Livestock Show.

Families will enjoy the Farm Experience, which provides an interactive educational opportunity by bringing the farm to the city, and is especially geared toward kids. Farmer-For-A-Day, Ag Magic Show, pedal tractor races and a petting zoo are all part of the activities. The Li'l Buckaroo Rodeo is a favorite for everyone, featuring 4-6 year old boys and girls attempting, and often succeeding, to ride a lively, wooly sheep for five seconds.

True cowboy cuisine doesn't require any electricity...just an open fire. The Arizona National Livestock Show is preparing to hold the Twelfth Annual Chuck Wagon Cook-off. Chuck Wagon camps travel from all over the southwest to fire up some good cowboy grub. The "camps" consist of an authentic old style wagon and a crew that will be doin' the cookin' with wood stoves.

The Arizona National Horse Show has long been part of Arizona National events. Since 1998, when we moved the events to the WestWorld equine complex in Scottsdale, the Horse Show has experienced significant growth. We offer equine competitions for various interests including an American Quarter Horse Show, a 4-H/FFA Horse Show and a Saddlebred Show. The 2011 Horse Show events are scheduled for Thursday January 6 through Sunday, January 9.
